|New Reno to Las Vegas bus route connects rural areas too|
RENO, Nev. (AP) — The state Department of Transportation and a private transit operator are launching new bus service to connect rural and urban areas in Nevada, including a daily round-trip route from Reno to Las Vegas with several stops in smaller towns along the way.
The Reno-Las Vegas route operated by Salt Lake Express beginning Monday will includes stops in Fallon, Fernley, Hawthorne, Tonopah, Beatty and Pahrump, NDOT announced on Friday.
|Oakley cheerleading team excited to win 4th state title|
OAKLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Oakley cheerleading team is 2021 state champions.
After qualifying at the district competition in Twin Falls, the Oakley cheerleading team traveled to Boise this past weekend where it won the state title for the fourth time in six years.
Although Oakley is a 1A school, they compete at a 2A level for cheerleading.
The team consists of 21 students in grades ninth through 12.

|Highway 55 closure causes dip in business for some Valley County stores|
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Commuters on Highway 55 are in for more delays as workers continue to clean up the landslide that shut part of the highway down. The Idaho Transportation Department said the area is still unsafe for traffic. Detours being recommended add hours to the commute between Valley County and the Treasure Valley.
|Construction work gets underway at Barber Park|
BOISE, Idaho — Work has begun out at Barber Park on improvements to the plaza and pathways at the popular recreation site used by Boise River floaters.
Float the Boise River posted a construction alert on its Facebook page.
The Barber Park beach, floater launch area, and plaza will be closed to the public and fenced off during construction, which is expected to run through mid-June. The drop-off circle will be open only for construction access and deliveries.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — On Saturday at the Twin Falls County West Building, local organization will be hosting the 8th community food giveaway for the people of Idaho.
Food from Chobani, Clif Bar and others will be available for pickup.
The staff from Mustard Seed will be setting up 1,200 boxes of food for residents who need to stock their pantries.

|Invasive aquatic weed found growing in spring near Hagerman|
BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — An Idaho department plans to eradicate an invasive aquatic weed found in a south-central Idaho spring.
The Idaho State Department of Agriculture said in a statement Monday, Visit Southern Idaho alerted the department to an unusual plant growing in Blue Heart Spring, which is near Box Canyon Springs Preserve, south of Hagerman.
|Jerome schools change mask guidelines|
JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Jerome School District had a face covering requirement until that changed Friday morning.
In a 4-to-1 vote in a special board meeting, the Board of Trustees voted to remove the district’s mask requirement and to have a mask recommendation in its place.
Superintendent Dale Layne, who was not among those voting, said he saw both sides of each issue. He talked with parents and other school districts and said opinions were cut in half.

|Three people safe after small plane crash in Twin Falls|
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —A family out of the McCall area is okay, after their plane crashed at Joslin Field Friday morning.
The call came in at 12:30 a.m.
KMVT spoke to airport manager Bill Carberry, who says a Single Engine Piper aircraft crashed on Runway 8.
The plane was occupied by a father and his two sons, when a strong wind shear out of the south caused the plane to “pancake” into the runway.
