JEROME — The Idaho Department of Transportation presented final plans Thursday for the Interstate 84 South Jerome Interchange at an open house.

Members of the public gathered at Jerome Council Chambers to learn about the project and ask questions of project staff about the modified divided diamond-style interchange, which bears a resemblance to a roundabout.

FAIRFIELD, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Soldier Mountain announced Wednesday it will open its magic carpet this weekend.

The magic carpet will be opened from Dec. 10 to Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The resort will only operate the magic carpet due to its snow-making capabilities.

ELKO – A former Elko County employee was arrested Wednesday on multiple counts of theft and misconduct after an investigation accused her of diverting more than $50,000 in payments to her personal bank account over the past three years.

Sara E. Steninger, 32, was booked into Elko County Jail on $170,000 bail.

Steninger, also known as Sara Benoit, was employed by the county in 2013 and was working as an accountant when the alleged thefts occurred.

ELKO – A marijuana dispensary has been cleared to open in the Nevada-Idaho border town of Jackpot.

The business could open by Monday, Thrive Cannabis Marketplace representative Dave Brown told Elko County commissioners on Wednesday.

Commissioners unanimously approved a license for the business after Undersheriff Justin Ames reported Thrive had passed background checks.

JEROME, Idaho (KLIX)-A Wood River Valley based hemp insulation manufacture plans to build a production facility in Jerome County along the interstate beginning this fall. Southern Idaho Economic Development said Hempitecture Inc., based in Sun Valley, intends to build a plant at the Northbridge Junction near the Interstate 84 and U.S. Highway 93 junction; a groundbreaking ceremony is set for early October. This is one of the first major business announcements made since a bill was signed into law earlier this year allowing the production and transportation of industrial hemp in Idaho.

A well-known local radio personality is gone from the Boise airwaves after nearly 15 years.

Mix 106 afternoon host Steve Kicklighter — known to listeners as Kekeluv — is no longer with the station.

“I gave you my all,” he wrote Tuesday on Instagram. “Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough for the out of town (management) team. I was just let go.”

JACKPOT — A marijuana dispensary is scheduled to open in mid-September in Jackpot, Nevada.

This will be Thrive Cannabis Marketplace’s sixth location in Nevada.

John Erminio marketing director for Thrive said they are ready for the new location.

“We are very excited about being entrenched in that area and being a good partner there,” Erminio said.

The store will be open 24/7, 365 days a year. Shoppers will be able to come inside the store or use a drive-through option, he said. A range of products will be available including vapes, concentrate and edibles.

HAILEY, Idaho — Seven years of driving down bumpy and remote dirt roads, bushwhacking through underbrush, trudging up scree fields, and standing finally at the breathtaking apex of mountain after mountain after mountain came to a joyful end last week.

Derek Percoski of Hailey has climbed all 123 of Idaho's tallest mountains, successfully summiting all nine peaks over 12,000 feet and all 114 over 11,000 feet. He wrapped up his final climb - the Pioneer Range's 11,220-foot Alcyon Peak - on July 15, his 41st birthday.
