TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Awakening! exhibition is now open at the Magic Valley Arts Council.

The gallery features guest artists Mike Pepper, Lori Rieth, Jim Woods and Mike Youngman as well as new artists Judi Thietten and Judy Van Dellen.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — As KMVT reported back in November, Pomerelle Mountain Resort had a record-breaking opening weekend. The good showing wasn’t just a one-week wonder.

“There’s been more people up here this year than I think I’ve ever really seen,” said Burley resident Wendy Seamons.

Seamons saw people from all over at Pomerelle this year.

“People from Utah, people from Boise area, lots of different license plates in that parking lot,” Seamons said.

BOISE, Idaho — April 3rd is a significant day for Ada County. It's the birthday of the county namesake - Ada Riggs.

165 years ago, she became the oldest daughter of what would become one of Boise's first settlers. She was just 7 years old when she moved here.

And we thought things moved quickly these days, within a year and a half of living in Boise, she had a county named after her.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The controlled hunt application period begins on May first, and Idaho Fish and Game will soon release the rulebook for the 2021-2022 season.

There are some changes to the rules this year that Fish and Game officials want you to be aware of.

Most changes are standard, but significant change will be seen in the Pronghorn and Smokey Bennett Elk tags.

STANLEY, Idaho — There is a lot of local contention over a private airstrip in Custer County, which just so happens to be right in front of one of the most scenic and well-known areas of the state - the Sawtooth Mountains.

Custer County's Planning and Zoning Commission has heard more than 300 formal written complaints from locals and conservation groups, with some saying the owner of the property has been flying in and out of it for years and is just now asking for permission.

JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Idaho Fish and Game is busy stocking different rivers and lakes with trout so people can head out and enjoy the day fishing.

IFG stock the waters every year, and April is one of their busiest months for trout stocking. They estimate more than 63,000 trout will be stocked throughout the Magic Valley.

One regional fisheries biologist says trout stocking is one way they can ensure there are enough opportunities for those who enjoy fishing.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The city of Twin Falls has been looking to update its fire stations for 6 years but has had some hurdles along the way.

When the fire station bond failed in 2019, they had to regroup and decide how to move forward from there.

“We found an alternative funding source, and we reduced the scope a little bit, so we are building a station 2 and a station 3 and then the training center is a separate funding source from a grant,” said Fire Chief Les Kenworthy

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — With construction for a stoplight underway at a busy pedestrian walkway in Twin Falls, the city has also lowered the speed limit through the area.

The stoplight is being put up at the intersection of Falls Avenue and Madrona Street North. Normally a 35 mph road, the city has lowered the speed flashers to 25 mph, 24 hours a day until the project is finished.

Many Sawtooth Elementary students cross the intersection to and from school.

KETCHUM, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The City of Ketchum has now approved their master transportation plan, which means they have direct steps to follow to help improve traffic flow for cars, bikes, and pedestrians.

Now that the transportation plan has been approved by the city council, Ketchum will be able to help make travel easier and safer for residents and tourists.

The master transportation plan hasn’t been updated since 2004, so this will help when city officials apply for grants or other options for funding.

FAIRFIELD, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A large private airport could be coming to Camas County after months of work and applications.

“Ix Nay Investment Trust wants to put in a private air strip for their guests and for themselves, to bring their larger aircraft in than Hailey, or Friedman Memorial would hold,” said the Planning and Zoning Administrator Dwight Butlin.

This has been an idea for Ix Nay Investment Trust for many years, but have recently went through all the required steps to get it approved by county officials.
