Bellvue, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —The City of Bellevue and some of its local partners are working together to restore an essential part of the community, and on Tuesday local residents stopped by to help the city out.

The Howard Preserve is a special recreational spot in Bellevue, due to its access to the big Wood River and abundance of trout.

“This has always been a great fishing area. This is where my grandpa taught me how to flyfish,” said Bellevue resident Mike Howard.

ONTARIO, Ore. — The Oregon Department of Transportation plans to repair and resurface the Snake River Bridge on U.S. Highway 30 that connects Oregon and Idaho, between Ontario and Fruitland. The bridge is located less than a mile north of Interstate 84 Exit 376.

For the next two weeks, ODOT is holding an online open house to collect feedback from the local residents, businesses, bridge users and others.

BOISE, Idaho — After months of anticipation from students and teachers, the two largest school districts in Idaho, Boise and West Ada, are set to bring all students back to the classroom for full-time, in-person learning on March 29 and 30.

The Boise School District (BSD) brought students in grades K-6 back full-time in early March. On Monday, students in grades 7-12 returned full-time as well.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The State Fire Marshal has been called in to help investigate the cause of a fire at a sugar factory building that started Saturday evening.

According to Twin Falls Fire Chief Les Kenworthy, some responders are still on the scene as hot spots continue to pop up.

The Fire Marshal is expected to arrive at the site of the blaze Monday in order to begin the investigation into the fire’s cause. Kenworthy said additional federal investigators could also be called in to help.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —Representative Mike Simpson spoke with Twin Falls County Commissioners on Monday about his plan to remove the 4 Lower Snake River dams to restore Chinook Salmon in Idaho.

“If we don’t do something to restore these salmon, and the last option left is removing these dams, these fish will go extinct,” says Rep. Simpson. “That would be a loss for Idaho, a huge loss for Idaho, an economic loss for Idaho as well as an environmental loss for Idaho.”

ELKO – The Adult Education Program congratulates Tate Cundick on passing his high school equivalency test.

Cundick, 17, received his HiSet certificate in March and a gift certificate from Garibaldi’s Mexican Restaurant to recognize the achievement.

He said his mother found the program after they searched for an option to finish high school sooner than planned.

BOISE, Idaho — Thousands of people across southern Idaho were without power Monday morning after a storm rolled through the area, bringing high winds.

In Boise, a transformer blew on North Tweed Court, cutting off electricity to nearby neighborhoods. A tree also fell onto power lines on West Morris Hill Road, cutting off the power to a section of the Boise Bench.

BOISE, Idaho — The Salvation Army says it has an abundance of fresh produce at its food pantry in Boise and plans to start distributing it on Tuesday, March 30.

Thanks to an unexpected donation, the food pantry has received more produce than usual and will be making the produce available to low-income families and individuals in Ada County.
