TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Twin Falls High School Theater Department will perform their spring musical “The Skin of our Teeth” this weekend.

Last year, the students at Twin Falls High School were preparing to perform “Into the Woods,” but it got canceled two weeks before opening night, which has made them even more excited for this year.

They have been preparing for the show since the beginning of the semester and are hopeful people will enjoy it.

The show is a comedy and follows a family through time as they handle several near-death experiences.

BOISE, Idaho — Just when you thought it was time to hang up your snow gear for the season, you might want to wait a little longer.

In a letter to the community, Bogus Basin General Manager Brad Wilson said the mountain will have what they are calling one final "bonus weekend."

The mountain was set to close this Sunday and that was supposed to mark the end of the season. But because of the nonprofit's snowmaking team and good skiing conditions, Wilson says they will reopen for one final weekend on April 17 and 18.

LAS VEGAS — Lia Bacon of Elko has taken Best of Show for the second year in a row in the Nevada Junior Duck Stamp art contest. Her acrylic painting of a green-winged teal titled "Blue Autumn" will represent the state in the national contest later this spring.

Bacon attends Elko High School and her sponsoring teacher is Patrick Long.

“We focus on women who are entrepreneurs starting their own business or if they have an existing business, we help them to expand,” said Program Manager Vicky Fajardo.

The Idaho Women’s Business Center is a non-profit organization hosted by the Idaho Hispanic Foundation and funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with theUS Small Business Administration. They offer a variety of resources for women in business.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — On Monday, the Twin Falls Sheriff’s office pulled over three vehicles for not stopping for a school bus.

School bus drivers have a lot to think about when they are heading to pick up children before and after school, and one bus driver KMVT talked to says it’s terrifying when a driver breaks the law and doesn’t stop for them.

“Many a times, I have had drivers run through my stop sign, it’s a nightmare, I don’t want it to happen,” said Shonia Gaston, who works for the Kimberly School District.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — As part of the American Rescue Plan, states were given the opportunity to offer tax breaks on unemployment income earned during the 2020 fiscal year. Idaho is one of 13 states choosing not to offer such breaks.

The most recent COVID relief bill stated the first $10,200 of unemployment income could be deemed untaxable.

However, each state was given the chance to choose whether to allow for that tax break. According to the Idaho Tax Commission, every dollar earned through the unemployment system during 2020 will be taxed as regular income.

ELKO — On Monday, a brilliant high school golf career came to an emotional, triumphant finish.

During the Division 3A North-East season finale at Ruby View Golf Course, Elko senior Gabby Bement said goodbye in the best way she could.

While the Lady Indians did not win first as a team — taking second with a team score of 404 for a season low — Bement nailed down the individual victory in the last high school tournament of her remarkable career.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Due to low water levels, officials say don’t expect a roaring Shoshone Falls this spring.

You might remember in 2016 when more than 10-thousand cubic square feet (CFS) of water was rushing over the falls.

Experts at Twin Falls Parks and Recreation expect right now the flows are only going at a rate of 275 CFS and will average 350 CFS.

BOISE, Idaho — There is some good news for those looking for life to return to normal. The City of Boise announced Monday that it plans to open four outdoor pools this summer.

As COVID-19 cases continue to decline and the vaccine rollout expands, the city will open some of its outdoor municipal pools this summer with health and safety protocols in place.

"We're committed to providing opportunities for outdoor exercise and recreation, and we are confident we can open four of our municipal pools safely," said Boise Mayor Lauren McLean. "This plan allows us to be responsible with residents' money and have some summer fun in our pools."
